In Piscean oceans humanity has swum
unable to see the spiritual sun
above the water:
we’ve followed the Son
but forgotten the Daughter –
and life has become a feast of slaughter.
Victory became an exterior conquest
creating victims and enemies
and a drama that may never cease:
humanity lost track of the fact
that the true victories lie beneath
the surface, within ourselves
the only place true enemies are found.
All paths become One, the time of revelation has begun.
There are no End Times, that tale was spun
by men fearful of losing their place in the Sun,
by men who’d forgotten the Goddess unites all
with love, compassion, poetry and sex,
all elements of life are held in her loving breast.
The body stripped by religion of its holy raiment,
meant that people forgot what being gay meant!
The love of Ganymede and Zeus was seen as abuse,
Eros and Aphrodite were banished from the temple
of the Mother Church
and so began the search
of the same sex lovers to find each other,
so began the time of seeking for the ones who know
it’s not what you reap, it’s what you sow,
it’s not what you plant, it’s what you grow,
it’s not where you go, it’s what you do there,
it’s not whom you love, it’s how you love them.

In medieval times amongst the pagans, the heretics and free spirits
the queer spirit lovers could find themselves again
reflected in each other, remembering the way
that love in the body connects us to heaven –
whatever the preachers say.
In medieval times we were called Free Spirits, antinomian souls
who were burnt for believing that
women were equal to men
that pleasure is holy, not a sin
and that personal salvation directly through Christ
was a truly possible goal.
Inquisitions and Witch Hunters sought us out
unable to stand what we were about.
The end of authority, of rules and taboos
was not something acceptable in their views.
They had the power but we had the love
they lit the fires, but we listened
to the voices coming from above.
Beghards, Beguines and Bogomils,
Lollards, Cathars and Waldensians
killed for preaching that there is no sin for those
who have married with the Christ within,
for those who have recognised that God is the Source of All
surrendered their egos to follow God’s call.

We laughed at the idea of sexual taboos,
at the notion of bread and wine becoming Christ.
We hated the imagery of our Lord on the Cross
we refused to let the Church be our boss.
We were the ones hearing god full of kindness
reassuring us we were safe on this trip of life:
we even forgave our killers for their blindness
for we knew our souls would survive
their attacks against our love, our magic –
theirs were the lives that were truly tragic.
Without love, without pleasure
without liberty within
life becomes a forbidding trial
all joy ringfenced by sin.
Our faiths suppressed we moved to the next
stage of our manifestation:
Theatre called us, as it had Dionysus
through art and drama, the audience enthalled by us,
emotions were shared, wisdom was declared
and the world got a little bit lighter.

Still we were hunted, but our presence prevails
because you can’t destroy our spirit which avails
itself of gaiety even in gloom:
at courts and balls, in molly houses, bars and clubs
from the Renaissance to the time of AIDS
we’ve never stopped dancing even as we face our doom:
for we are the people of the moon
who know how to touch people’s hearts
with our stories and our arts
we know how to help hurting souls
with our healing crafts.
We’ve been put in the stocks
we’ve been hung, imprisoned
chemically castrated and made objects of derision,
but our spirit fights back, we never disappear
the eternal freedom loving spirit of queer.

The Aquarian Age is an Age of Light,
minds opened at last, the Goddess resurrected,
same sex love once more respected
as it was in ancient Celtic lands even more than in Greece –
that civilisation in which love of man for man
was raised to philosophical heights.
For the Celts passionate friendship was society’s glue
same sex love was seen as noble and true.
The Greeks saw man for man love as enlightening the mind and soul
but the Celts pursued another goal, all forms of love honoured, makes a people whole.
Pleasure is a Goddess – the Ancients knew
Pleasure dissolves the boundaries between Me and You.
Pleasure is a doorway to living deeply in the present
a vehicle for healing and revelation
a tool for our own personal salvation:
Pleasure is an Act of Creation.
Love connects all beings in a web of immortality
but love came under the yoke of religion and law:
ringfenced by morals, holy sexworkers named whores,
same-sex love was forbidden, named as immorality –
nature’s natural priests accused of depravity –
where love does not flow, spirit cannot go:
division and fear burst forth when love is met with NO.

Queer love connects the community
and opens the gates to eternity.
Queer Souls are Gatekeepers to the Aquarian Age.
