Cybele – Rhea – Demeter – Gaia – Isis – Artemis – Aphrodite – Astarte – Ashtoreth – Venus:
For thousands of years the Earth Mother reigned,
her temples and rites had prestige and fame,
She was worshipped across the ancient lands
served by priestesses and queer priesthoods
who also sometimes travelled in bands
of holy revellers spreading her joy,
bringing ecstasy to the people
and connection to the Earth.
The Great Mother’s rites could be erotic, could be bloody –
transcendence was the goal, reconnection to Oneness,
there was music, dancing, intoxication
and divination, prophecy and illumination.
Transcending gender, immolating flesh,
the Goddess was invoked and the people blessed.
The Great Mother’s Mysteries revealed to those who felt the call
that the spirit inside is who we all are,
that by marrying the inner genders and drinking the cosmic cup,
opening to pleasure and releasing fear,
we can incarnate so much more of ourselves, right here.
The stream of life runs eternally
from body to body, spirit to soul, role to role;
the love inside us when awakened
can unite us with the stream and make us whole:
each life is a point on the riverbank,
a moment of eternity crystallised in form –
love for life itself reveals we are the flow:
to remember our unity as One Spirit formed in Love
is the most important goal.
Humanity lost in a tunnel of chaos,
darkness surrounds us but light stands before us
calling us on towards our destiny
as a species awakened and living free.
We can transcend fear and know why we’re here,
destiny calls us to rise and shine
as the world succumbs to the shadow
it’s the time for the light on earth to grow.
We’re not these bodies, we’re not these minds
we are made of something much deeper hidden inside:
pure divinity pulses in all existence –
stars, planets, elements, animals, people –
all in the dance of the divine principle,
and destined to find our Oneness.
Set sail from the riverside
enter the stream
there is more to existence
than it sometimes seems.
The Great Earth Mother never went away –
it’s humanity who forgot her sacred ways,
and forgot that her holy priests –
who know the body is holy and sexuality is divine –
are the GAYS.
