the ban on homosex was a devilish decoy
from what the elite were up to as they plundered the earth –
the world has long forgotten what gay love is worth.

Plato spotted that tyrants dominate through societal division
while homo love breeds brotherhood, community, trust –
which is why it suits tyrannical powers to treat same sex love with derision
and turn the rest of the population against us.
Christianity proved a useful creed –
its repression of sexuality suited the needs
of emperors and kings who wanted workers and soldiers
for their schemes of conquest and plunder,
their ambitions of power and wealth.
In the name of the Cross they marched and murdered,
while blaming women and gays for everything from earthquakes to ill health.
Sodomites and witches burned at the stake
native peoples conquered, their queer shamans slaughtered,
the world’s resources plundered and another creed invented:
Scientists the new priests, telling all what to believe
wake up dear world, we’ve been seriously deceived.

There’s one story going on in this world – it’s called Being, it’s called Life and it’s called LOVE.
It exists in and as all of us, each one equal and the same,
every person has a part in Life’s game.
Love for all beings reveals the play:
female, male, trans, straight, gay
love needs to flow all ways
for humanity to start a new day.
Consciousness itself is what we are
and Love is the Fire that transforms it,
but the world is transfixed by a dark myth of pain
and the stupid idea that intelligence sits in the brain –
the heart is the leading light on our way
and the teachers of love on this planet
are often gay.

Once the shamans, the priests, the holy ones served
in the tribes, the cities, in the temple reserves,
enacting rites of mystery, of death and rebirth,
of gender fluidity and of music and mirth.
Challenging to the menfolk, but essential to them too,
like the women, the queer folk, had spiritual things to do,
rites that kept spirit connected to the land.
These sons of the earth lived together in bands,
dressed in finery to honour the earth mother,
worshipped Attis, her castrated lover,
with music, dance and song,
in which all revellers were swept along
in a Dionysian enthusiasm
that swept away the self
in an orgy of ecstatic energy and sensual wealth.
Cross dressing, gender bending, erotic activities
were the most fun of all the pagan festivities,
but they threatened disorder, made the authorities afraid,
so a new religion was adopted, they banned the old pagan ways,
and when things went wrong, they blamed the Jews and the Gays.
