Stillness
Ecstasy:
two ways to expand
the inner cosmos
and feel the helping hands
of love beyond the mortal sphere –
as challenging times pressurise our minds,
this presence can help us release fear.
.
Meditation builds mental muscle
so we can see right through the mental bustle
to where inner peace resides.
Joyful ecstatic states are a prime human need too –
they connect us to friends, tribe, even alone to love and bliss –
sometimes nothing clears the mind
and refreshes the soul
quite like this.
.
By ecstasy I mean out of usual/regular thinking patterns
just like stillness it gives access to more parts of the mind,
instead of observing emotions we express them, for release –
the rule must always, simply be
that as you come down, return to the everyday
to others and thine own self be always kind.
.
However we access some bliss should really be our choice:
music, dance, song, sex, massage, medicine plants, drugs…
the body is our chariot for journeys to the heights.
Ecstatic states can be healing, turn darkness to light,
every journey changes something inside.
This simple wisdom,
known in ancient Europe and across the world in traditional cultures,
has been trying to be heard in the world again
for more than half a century.
In the 60s there came psychedelia
in the 70s came disco
in the 80s came new romantic, hi-nrg and house
in the 90s came rave
the millennial rush over four decades
the love revolution – were you there?
And I wonder, can you tell me –
What the fuck has happened since?
I think, like me, if you were, then you deeply care.
.
Why haven’t the voices of LOVE and WISDOM been listened to?
Why is darkness, violence and greed still leading the world?
Why are children still brought up to be robots
serving a military-industrial regime and economic fantasy
that is destroying the planet?
.
The Prime Minister of Great Britain was born in the ’60s, in the year of the Wood Dragon.
Like me.
Dragons are leaders this is true
Boris you should understand the times are changing fast.
We were born at the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius
Surely Coronavirus is showing you
It actually is time to serve the many not the few.
.
The ’60s opened the gates to self-exploration,
to caring for the planet and for each other.
But the lust for power has driven civilisation –
and brought the planet to the edge of chaos –
the way to make Britain a truly great nation
of the 21st century
is to wake up the nation’s heart
release our creativity, our art;
making caring the centre of attention and resources
and the search for wisdom our guiding light.
Self exploration through whatever means:
It’s time the children, and everybody knew
an important hidden truth:
That in no great civilisation of the past have drugs been illegal
and those who choose to use them hounded as criminals.
The ancient Greeks were high on opium
(and in fact so were the Victorians, the height of empire and ingenuity).
The suppression of drugs is the suppression of humanity’s exploration of its self
I’ve understood this since I first took lsd in 1989.
.
The 60s hippies got it right away
in 70s discos they went to pray, life became freer, more diverse, more gay
in the 80s and 90s E opened hearts and minds
but since the turn of millennium the continuing war on drugs
has achieved nought but misery, costing billions.
By suppressing the wisdom of conscious, positive drug use
we create warfare on the streets.
But maybe that’s what the ruling classes want?
Oh, how neat.
.
Every culture produces its shamans
but we’ve been burning and hanging ours for 1000 years
or locking them up, so they go underground
and create their own cultures
until they are found by the ruling elites –
the ones with the weapons and the police in their pocket:
the controlling of what people choose to do with their own bodies
is a corrupt, bullshit racket,
and no different in fact to past witch hunts and the burning of heretics
criminalising people who work, live, make love and pray
in their own chosen ways is the Inquisition all over again.
.
I was educated in the ’70s to believe in a materialist scientific reality,
I was told the purpose of life was to work, couple up, it didn’t quite fit.
After 3 years at Cambridge University
I’d really had enough of that shit.
It was facing death in the ’90s from the fashionable pandemic of that age
when I realised I’d been brainwashed, and I turned the page
of my inner life, I began again
having finally noticed that seeking the meaning of life
has been humanity’s obsession for a very long time.
.
Studying deeply all the world’s great wisdom teachings –
they all speak of unity, love, the journey to Self, and the great shift to come –
I realised that shit, THIS IS IT.
Although most are deeply held in the dream forced on them
A New Age has indeed begun.
.
Since the 60s the awakening has been birthing around the earth
while greed, war and lies still run the show……
But what now, 2020s as the very future of life appears at stake?
Will controls get harsher and laws more tough?
Well actually the people have had enough
of those in power dictating what’s right and what’s wrong:
it’s in a free world, not a police state, in which humans belong.
.
Our society could release the shackles and take the flight
into a freer world where all are free to grow, free to know
themselves as the eternal soul they truly are….
or will we tighten the reins and repeat the past bullshit?
The Earth is suffering, it’s humanity that must change.
If we listen to the wise ones
and walk lightly again upon the earth,
if we honour all people, all creatures
and tell the children their truth worth
as builders of a new world,
that cannot afford to repeat past mistakes:
this is how living will become something truly great.
.
2020 the world is crying out for vision.
Healing the world, healing the people, surely this is the mission:
making love and compassion the true currency, not money,
releasing the chains that are holding back our evolution –
for our minds are also filled with the pollution
of dark teachings, divisive creeds, enforced ignorance and capitalist greed.
Mental health crises are the sign of our man-made dis-ease:
release the chains, let the voices of experience and wisdom speak free.
Six decades since the ’60s, the dawn is still dawning
let’s get dressed, look our best, the Gods are waiting:
let’s start the morning.
