I propose it’s time to update the Charge of the Goddess
for in humanity there is a desperate need
to reconnect to the immaculate Wholeness
which exists beyond the gender binary
and go beyond the historical definitions
of male and female deities.
When God was seen as Mother
the people saw humanity as her children
and all life of equal worth.
When God became a Father
dictating rules from up above
humanity became divided
even though this God says He’s Love.
When God was a Mother
the masculine was held within her orbit
as her son and lover:
Isis, Inanna, Cybele, Persephone, Aphrodite
all had their male lovers
though Artemis/Diana needed no masculine other.
When God became a Father
the feminine was suppressed
the Goddess faith destroyed
feminine men oppressed.
A misogynistic tyranny
drained the spirit out of nature.
Doreen Valiente’s Charge of the Goddess
invoked the return of that power.
But Spirit is both the creator and the creation
who as God and Goddess gives birth to this physical manifestation
of the emotions, spirit and mind of the divine
finding expression in space and in time
birthed into the human soul
to remember that THAT is WHAT WE ARE
is the human goal.
All Acts of Love and Pleasure are Her Rituals
She “is the beauty of the green earth, and the white moon among the stars, and the mystery of the waters, and the desire of the heart of man… Arise, and come unto Her. For She is the soul of nature, who gives life to the universe. from Her all things proceed, and unto Her all things must return; and before Her face, beloved of gods and men, let thine innermost divine self be enfolded in the rapture of the infinite.”
And He is the Self – Conscious Awareness, the I Am in each one of us
engaged in the dance of romance and rapture with Her divine creation.
She is the Creatrix, He is the Enraptured
All Acts of Love and Pleasure are THEIR rituals.
“Let Her/Their worship be within the heart that rejoiceth; for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are Her/Their rituals. And therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you. And thou who thinkest to seek Her/Them, know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not unless thou knowest the mystery; that if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee, then thou wilt never find it without thee. For behold, She/They has been with thee from the beginning; and She/They/That/Them* is that which is attained at the end of desire.”
*For anyone objecting to a Them there, I remind you that the Old Testament word Elohim which became God, was originally plural.
