May 1st 2026 Solar Beltane coincides with the Full Moon on the same day, a rare and extremely magically powerful alignment! The moon’s movements follow a roughly 19 year pattern – but in 2007 full moon fell on May 2nd, so the last alignment of sun opposite moon on May 1st was back in 1988.
Coming soon after the famous Harmonic Convergence of 1987 – when a grand fire trine in the sky involving the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars all in Leo, Jupiter in Aries, Saturn and Uranus in Sagittarius, was considered to be a potentially powerful energetic gateway, bringing spiritual activation, evolutionary acceleration and a collective desire for harmony – that 1988 Beltane could be said to have kicked a period of positivity for humanity that lasted into the early 21st century. Considering the massive elemental shifts in the cosmos recently, this year’s Sun-Moon opposition at Beltane could bring a, long-awaited, surge of positive energy again.
In the late 80s-90s the world got brighter – the long Cold War ended, 1989 saw the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the USSR collapsed in 1991. Peace finally came to Northern Ireland with the Good Friday Agreement. House music got the world dancing, ecstasy raised the vibration, culture flourished, economies grew. LGBT+ people came out proudly in vast numbers demanding equality and action, by the late 90s men were no longer dying in large numbers from AIDS.
This year’s Solar-Lunar Beltane peak has the potential to also bring a massive new shot of (so desperately needed) positivity and hope. This time we have just collectively passed through an incredibly challenging period of frequency change as the outer planets of the solar system have transitioned from earth/water astrological signs into air/fire. Pluto in Capricorn Earth 2008-2024, Neptune in Pisces Water 2011- January 2026, Uranus in Taurus Earth 2018 – April 25th 2026 have brought a gradually deepening energy that might be called gravitational – water and earth pull us deeply into the material, physical experience of being alive. Life has seemed to get heavier, harder, more conflict, more struggle, more violence, more expense! From March 2023 until February 13th 2026 Saturn was also adding to the gravitational pressure while transiting through Pisces – so the peak of that energy has only just recently receded and we are still feeling the after effects.
Pluto, Neptune, Uranus – these planets reflect the deep movements within our collective consciousness, layers that we do not usually experience directly in our egoic focused minds. Saturn and Jupiter reflect the collective fields we share more directly with each other – their movements are mirrors to our societal moods and attitudes. Since June 9th 2025 Jupiter has been making his 12-yearly visit to the water sign Cancer, so also adding to the earth/water mix. Jupiter will reach the fire realm of Leo on June 30th 2026 in time to liven up the summer, as his influence over our collective fields shifts from the emotional, protective and defensive Cancerian spirit into the much more playful, outgoing and expressive Leonine vibration.
We are in a slow-motion Turning Point lasting a few months, but this Beltane will kick us into the final stages of it.
PARADIGM SHIFT IS HERE
Sun in Taurus opposite Moon in Scorpio at Beltane 2026 is a huge cosmic, soul-level, reset, a time of alignment between our deepest and darkest, and our highest and holiest places within, a culmination of the many resets that have been coming our way for a few months. This time it’s as deep as it can go. And it’s also collective.
This could bring breakthrough for many. Breaking through the no doubt intense personal dramas that have likely been arising in recent weeks/months – but also more. For we are collectively in a huge shift, that I describe as a breaking through the materialist delusion into awareness of the cosmic, divine dream manifesting here on Earth.
I’ve been celebrating Beltane for over 20 years. This powerful festival, which was widely and wildly celebrated across Britain until the 17th century (ie for a millennium after we became a Christian country as some think), honours the sacred Union of matter and spirit- and humanity’s part in anchoring that union. It reminds us we are part of an eternal, wild, free and holy spirit. The May Pole represents the Union, the Beltane fire is the place we burn away what no longer serves us, to be ready for the growth spurt that the next 6 weeks are going to bring. Beltane is the point when nature hits full stride, after a slow spring awakening there is now no holding her back. Peak growth time is here. What humans do not understand is this happens to us too – we are not separate from nature – and this next period of the year can be a time when some people spin out with manic behaviour and mental health crises. The opportunity at Beltane is to make sure we get properly earthed, connected to the planet, the elements, to community, and to consciously address and release the issues that have been bringing us down – so that as the new energies rise we can receive them and stay in balance.
With Pluto in Aquarius Air, Neptune and Saturn in Aries Fire and now Uranus just arriving in Gemini Air for the next 8 years, this Beltane is bringing us a SOUL RESET. An internal shift to a new era of air and fire – bringing spiritual, aspirational and transformational energies to the heavy load of earth and water fuelled issues and feelings we’ve been carrying. Life is also spiritual! Not just material! Why doesn’t our politics, our economics, our society reflect this! In time they will! We have to reset in ourselves first! Change the inner to change the outer!
This Beltane is a chance to affirm the unity of life and spirit. To affirm the Oneness of the human spirit. And affirm the Holy Wholeness of ourselves – our light and shadows all necessary parts of the Divine Play.
As I underwent my Accelerated Individual Discovery of Spirit in the mid 90s, I saw visions of a miraculous awakening coming to the whole planet, but I also felt very alone in my multi-dimensional perspective! I had to search for places where I could meet others seeing, exploring that reality. Now the Internet is full of people sharing the excitement of their awakening stories. But still the mainstream story of human life on earth carries on oblivious to the bigger mystery, to the magic happening through people reconnecting to nature and spirit, to a belief in and sense of Oneness. When enough people get it everything will change. The light is breaking through and this Beltane may it shine on YOU.
